Dignified and trustworthy: Deacons should be respectable and not be “double-tongued” or deceptive.
Not greedy: Deacons must not be motivated by dishonest gain.
Proven and blameless: They must first be tested and proven to be above reproach.
Sound in faith: They must hold the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience.
Good family life: They must be the husband of one wife, and manage their children and households well.
Temperant: They should not be given to much wine.
